THE ADAMSON University Lady Falcons snagged a memorable victory against the professional side Akari Chargers, taking home the Akari Invitational Cup trophy for women’s volleyball on Feb. 7.
The Lady Falcons thwarted the Akari Chargers in an almost three-hour, five-set game, 25-19, 29-27, 21-25, 23-25, 15-9.
Lady Falcons setter Angelica Alcantara’s defensive play racked up points early in the game, while libero Joahna Verde Flor's outstanding floor defense ensured Adamson's win.
Rookie Eloisa Aljibe set a game-changing net defense in the fifth set of the game, securing Adamson’s victory.
Middle blocker Fifi Sharma tried to salvage Akari’s chances, but Antonette Adolfo countered with a solid attack for the Lady Falcons.
The Chargers failed to keep up with the Lady Falcon’s tenacity, losing the match as Lucille Almonte ended the game with an off-the-block attack, clinching their championship title.
